Chinese New Year in Helsinki

The Chinese New Year will be celebrated in Helsinki again on Monday, 31 January, when the year of the Ox turns into the year of the Tiger. In addition to the festive programme that will be available online, people can admire numerous ice sculptures around the city.

Viewers can enjoy the Chinese New Year ambience and traditions in Beijing broadcast online on Helsinki Channel and this website on 31 January at 5 pm. Ice sculptures can be admired on Keskuskatu and in the courtyards of the City of Helsinki’s cultural centres Annantalo, Kanneltalo, Maunula House, Vuosaari House and Stoa from 31 January onwards.

Helsinki’s Chinese New Year event is hosted by the cities of Helsinki and Beijing, and it has been celebrated since 2007. The event is produced by the Finland China Society together with Cultural Centre Caisa and Helsinki Event Foundation.
